Lithuanian summer time is very pleasant and always too short :) Forests, meadows and fields are in green colour - it is a season for fresh vegetables, herbs, fruits and berries to enjoy. Local markets are loaded with organic goods from the forest, gardens and farms.
During hot days Lithuanians prefer cold and refreshing dishes containing green veggies and fresh berries. In July first potatoes show up and we can't wait to enjoy crispy potato pancakes. Since forests are full of wild berries, my family usually goes picking seasonal berries and enjoy them in many dishes afterwards.
I am pleased to share with you these hearty summer dishes and together enjoy the best season in Lithuania!
